Timber Packing at Brazil |
Dear Customers,
Please be informed that all cargoes that arrive in BR after May 17/06 will be necessary/obligatory that wood packages be treated (phytosanitary treatment). For cargoes that will arrive after this date origin station will have to fulfill the requirements disposed in the ISPM 15 International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures. Pls make sure that all customers are informed of this new requirements for all shipments to BR.
All wooden packages must have been subject to a recognized and known treatment method (heat treatment or fumigation). To prove the fulfillment of the required standard procedure, the wood package should be duly identifiable either with a badge or marked. Additional documents as phytosanitary certificates for packaging will be required by the local authorities.
There options mentioned below in order to make this phytosanitary treatment:
Fumigation (MB) with Methyl Bromide in a protected are for at least 16 hours under certain doses. Depending on the fumigation procedure, the fumigated products should be ventilated to reduce the fumigate concentration below level of danger.
Heat treatment (HT) reaching a minimum internal wood temperature of 56º C for at least 30 minutes.
