Subject : New regulation on wood packaging material for imports into Norway from 1st Jan 2009
Dear colleagues,
please be informed that the ISPM 15 (regulation on treatment of wood packaging material in international trade) will enter into force in Norway from 1st January 2009.
Norway - Imports requirements for wood packaging material – implementation of ISPM15
Amendments to Regulations relating to plants and measures against pests is now adopted by the Norwegian Ministry of Agriculture and Food. With effect from 1st Jan 2009, Norwegian Food Safety Authority will enforce regulations on the use of Wood Packaging Material involved in international trade.
The new regulation requires that all import consignments using wood packaging material (WPM) must undergo approved treatment prior to departure from export countries.
The intent of the regulation is to prevent spread of quarantine pests via cross border movement of WPM made of unprocessed raw wood which may served as pathway for the introduction and spread of quarantine pests.
The new regulations apply to the following WPM: pallets, dunnage, crating, packing blocks, drums, cases, load boards, pallet collars and skids.
